Genetic Counseling Supervision Workshop – May 19th, 2016

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Pat Veach will be returning to Indianapolis for a one-day workshop on Clinical Supervision.  The workshop will be held in downtown Indianapolis, and there will be no registration fee to attend.

 

Introduction to Clinical Supervision

Participants will explore the various roles supervisors have in the clinical setting and recognize how these roles provide support and guidance to students. They will discuss fundamentals of providing feedback, and compare and contrast more effective and less effective feedback strategies. Participants will also examine the theory of reflective practice in the helping professions and identify ways which genetic counselor supervisors can model and teach self-reflective practices.

      • Supervisors in the IU GC Program can have their parking in the University Hospital garage validated by P. Delk, and ride the People Mover to Fairbanks Hall
      • Discounted parking (validated parking for 2 hours) available in Burger Haus garage, 335 W 9th Street, a short walk from the meeting, and where we’ll have lunch
      • Limited spots available in the laboratory lot, across 10th Street from Fairbanks Hall
      • Garages at both University Hospital and Methodist Hospital, with People Mover access
  •  We anticipate that this workshop will qualify for 6-7 CEU hours (0.6 or 0.7 CEU). This event has been submitted to the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) for approval of Category 1 CEUs. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accepts CEUs approved by NSGC for purposes of recertification. Approval for the requested CEUs and Contact Hours is currently pending.
  • CEU fee of $25 per participant is paid to the National Society of Genetic Counselors for the filing and awarding of CEU certificates. Please provide payment to INGC via check or cash. No credit cards accepted for this event.
